HELP Debate

Hey people.I know.It's been A-G-E-S since i last posted a post.Basically, i was too lazy to type anythn out.So here's an update.Mind you..altho its called an update..wat ur about to read is actually old news.Anyway, on the 14th of April I and my junior debaters went for the 7th National Debate Championship at HELP Institute.It was d first time dat our school participated and v had no idea watsoever of d rules or how v shud b debating.So,on d 14th of April i got up at 6 as usual and got ready for school.I scurried thro my cupboard to find my old pair of school uniform ( i hvn been to school for d past 5 mth since b4 April ).I got ready,went to school and departed to HELP Institute.The topic of our first round debate was "This House Would Not Use Animals For Entertainment".The topic was hard enuf, but..v had to get d opposition stand and against a so-called "formidable" opponent, SMK Katholik High,PJ. Since v were in d last group, our debate was to start oni at 4pm.So,v jus hanged around till it was our turn. When it was time, v gave all our best n went all out. D debate was at a classroom. Half d entire class was filled with Katholik High supporters. Finally..after an hour of debate and another half hour of adjudicating..the verdict was..SMK Kepong emerged d winning team.My team won! And so, as usual, d adjudicators congratulated d winning team and asked if there were any questions. Professionally, d losing team SHOULD b askin d adjudicators on how dey cud improve demselves.But no~dey were Too egoistic to admit defeat.D debaters as well as their supporters spent half an hour arguing with d adjudicators dat dey shud hv won d battle. SORE losers! Thats d end of dat chapter.Arrived home at 7pm (12 hours..it was physical n mental torture).Anyway, it was Tamil New Year on d very day, so dat meant i had to go to temple rite after i had my bath.It was 10 when i arrived home.Usually, it wud mean getting to bed.However, d 2nd round of d debate was d very next day n v already received our topic. V were again d opposition against another good school, SMK Chung Hwa. Dis topic was even harder than d previous. "The Government Should Pay Women For Giving Birth". So, me n my teammates went thro preparing points for d topic.V had to prepare takin into consideration 2 situation. 1) surrogacy. 2)Low Populated Country.
It was already 2am when i was done preparing points alone.Got up again at 6 at it was d same routine as d day b4.When it was our turn to debate, v had a shock.D government team neither spoke about surrogacy nor low population.Dey took on a stand sayin dat it was d governments responsibility to care.It was a long winded debate. It ended in us losing dat round due to a late come back n d lack of 'Burden Of Clash' as mentioned by d adjudicator. But it was great. v lost but v had fun n learned alot.v did quite well considering it was our first time participating in dat debate.

That's all for now ppl..I started Form 6 last week..Its been very busy,but fun..will b posting about it soon..mayb next week..
